Project and Change Management

Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) System-level projects
As enterprise performance leads, we played a critical role in laying the foundation for key projects aimed at improving student outcomes and aligning MCCCD with national best practices. The implementation of these projects was a multi-year effort that required significant cultural change across the district. We faced challenges such as resistance to change, logistical hurdles, and competing priorities, but with a clear vision, strong leadership, and stakeholder buy-in, we were able to ensure successful implementation. Through purposeful collaboration, planning, and execution, we were able to introduce the new system, resulting in measurable improvements in student outcomes and a shift in institutional mindset towards greater accountability. Arizona School Safety Study

As the lead on the Arizona School Safety Study, we were tasked with conducting a statewide study that included surveying and interviewing all school stakeholders. This two-year, legislatively mandated effort presented numerous challenges, including gaining access to schools, ensuring the anonymity of participants, and managing the emotions of participants during sensitive discussions of safety.

Despite these challenges, we were able to successfully navigate the study to completion, ensuring that all data was collected and analyzed with the utmost professionalism and attention to detail. The findings of the study were presented to the Arizona SAFE Commission, providing them with important insights to inform policy decisions related to school safety.

This study not only fulfilled a critical legislative requirement but also provided valuable information to help ensure the safety of Arizona's schools. Through our leadership and management of this effort, we were able to demonstrate our ability to navigate complex projects while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics. Role: Education Research Associate and Lead, Arizona State Department of Education

Team Building and Training

We undertook the challenging task of creating an institutional effectiveness office at a college from scratch. This involved writing work descriptions, interviewing, onboarding and training a team of twelve employees.

The main challenge was to create a cohesive team that could work together efficiently while also being individually responsible for specific tasks. To accomplish this, we developed a thorough onboarding and training program that emphasized the importance of clear communication, collaboration, and accountability. We also encouraged each team member to contribute their unique skills and experiences to the team and provided opportunities for professional development and growth.

The success of this initiative was evident in the work that the team produced. Their focus on data analysis, program evaluation, and continuous improvement led to award-winning work that was recognized both internally and externally. Furthermore, the team members were able to advance their careers within the college and beyond due to their expertise and accomplishments.

Overall, creating the institutional effectiveness office was a significant accomplishment that required both strategic planning and effective leadership. Through careful selection, training, and management of the team, we were able to establish a culture of excellence that continues to thrive today.
